Artist’s Statement: This body of work is an amalgamation of images that were shot for my Photography class assignments and personal projects that I took on to delve deeper into the lessons from those assignments. Much of this work is heavily influenced and inspired by my Art History classes. All of these images document a journey of exploration in photographic technique/skill development, message crafting and vision building.
Throughout this exploration I was developing my visual vocabulary and the tools with which to articulate a given message. Communication, not just for commercial purpose but also from a more personal perspective. Ultimately, I’m slowly finding the subtle gradations that separate not just the various genres of photography and their subsets but also the edge between commercially viable images and “art for art’s sake.”
